Starting a new business overseas on a American Base

I am a resident of Hawaii but presently working in Japan as a contractor on a Military base. I would like to start a coaching business that would have potential clients both on base and off base here. I am going to a seminar for the Japanese side but was wondering if I could get some advice on how to register my business for the on base aspect. Should I just register with Hawaii and that will be good for base or do I need to do something else?

There are some contacts and resources for doing business abroad on the U.S. Department of State website and doing business with the DOD on the Department of Defense website. There should be a civilian affairs office on your base that could assit you on their requirements. I think there are some specific rules military wide - but most rules will depend on your base's individual policies. You could always just open shop off base - GIs will come to you.
