I am a young recently separated Marine who served in Iraq. I also have 3 years of law enforcement experience as a police officer. Given my background, I am interested in becoming an entrepreneur and starting my own security company with a partner in the southern California area. We already have financing. I'm looking for advice on how to do this and an experienced person in the field to assist in mentoring me through the process.
I have done some research already. I know I must obtain a PIO certification from the BSIS and a million dollar insurance/workers comp policy. Can anyone give some more insight as to whether or not this is a lucrative business or not? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I would suggest that you seek out a Small Business development Center (SBDC) or SCORE office in the area you plan to operate your business. They are free to use, know your local laws and regs and can help you research and develop your business. That is why they are there.
Also, look to your local vet organizations - many have resources to help vets transition into business.
