I don't think you need any certification to work as a translator unless you
work for the government or big companies that will require specific ones.
Some clients might ask to see your qualifications.

If you plan to interpret for the courts, you may need to pass a qualifying
exam to be certain you can accurately translate legal terms. You should be
able to find out the requirements in your state by contacting your nearest
district or magistrate's court.
