One of the ways in which you can attract contributions is to form a non-profit corporation and acquire IRS tax exemption status. Without the proper tax exemption status, most people will not take your operation seriously. A properly formed non profit corporation with an IRS Tax exemption status will give your operation the pedigree it will need to be taken seriously. What's more, an IRS tax exemption status will make you eligible for various public and private sector grants which specifically request from applicants IRS Tax Exemption status. Hello John.   I too joined today.  I'm doing something that is opposite of your idea.  I'm starting a new company to take the world paperless, one company at a time.  However, I too have not forgotten our homeless people.  My company will be able to employ many non-skilled people.  My company, too, will be a non-profit organization.   I won't suggest that you go to the green foundations for funding, as your idea is not a green idea.  However, you need to start surfing the web to locate foundations that will support your idea.  Try setting up a google alert for the words 'homeless' and 'street newspaper'.   Also, our new president has included some government grants in his stimulus package.  Google Obama and check it out.  You can contact me at bsanderman@cox.net, if you want to hear more.  My name is Barbara Sanderman.
