I have just started a new website (www.vacbelts.com) and I have a question on what taxes I will be required to collect and pay. As I understand it I only have to collect taxes for sales that are within my state (Utah), and any sale outside of the state I don't have to collect tax. Will I have to pay taxes for the out of state sales I make? If someone has any experience with this I would appreciate a clarification. Thanks
A quick call to your state tax commission or department of revenue will answer your question. You may also be able to find the information on their web site.
This is the $24,000 question. Currently the state of New York is trying to make Amazon pay sales tax. Amazon is not willing to do so. The courts shall decide.
