Business.gov's Web Service API provides methods for obtaining small

business resources and geographic data used by Business.gov's core

search tools including its award-winning state and local search engine,

loans and grants search, and licenses and permits search.

Using Business.gov's API, software developers can build new

applications and mashups using authoritative information from Federal,

state and local government agencies. The API is free of charge, does

not require registration, and allows for unlimited calls.

well, it will be somewhat private, but i'll probably build into it a 'test drive' feature where anyone could try it, since a lot of other counties are thinking of implementing the same service to their constituents.   The URL will be   http://www.pcpao.org/olex/welcome.php   when it goes live...

working on an online homestead exemption application in florida which uses the apis to spell check and verify cities,states, and county information.

Hello,   I just completed an exhaustive enumeration of all the methods available through the Business.Gov API using VBA. I'll post it on my blog once it's ready for print.   I would like to add that the API is very well documented and the query results are formatted for easy parsing.

I have created a tool to select a city/county/state for my company.  I have not found a more complete list of cities on the web.  It even contains cities with a population less than 100!  That is just unreal.

I was amazed when I discovered the API's offered by business.gov   I started with the API for U.S. City & County Web Data and have been building a quick little website around it: http://govsites.org/   It's exciting to look around the site and find all the fantastic information that's been made available
