I had an accountant who came 'highly recommended' but every time I send him an email, call him, ANYTHING he has failed to respond. It is getting ridiculous, with tax season coming up, I need answers!
Is there a way that I can do my taxes online and also keep track of my expenses for 2011? And also if recommending something, will it answer questions about bartering and how to report such things in my tax forms?
There are many services that are available online and do not charge to file your federal return. State returns generally do have a fee involved, but in my case, the state has free online filing as well.

I am sure that there are many online programs that can help you with that issue but i really do think that there is no substitute to a good accountant. Accountant relationship is not like marriage, 'in sickness and in health', if you are not satisfied, just replace him!

I would definitely have an accountant do my taxes...it's not worth the hassle!

In my experience I would have them done by an accountant. They will be able to maximize your return and it allows you to focus on your actual business. The opportunity cost of dealing with them yourself is much too high!

Are you using accounting software for small businesses, such as QuickBooks? If so, it keeps track of your expenses (as long as you enter them when they occur). Such software will also print out the financial statements you need, such as a balance sheet and profit and losss statement. You can then use these statements to file your own taxes. Alternatively, as someone else mentioned, find another accountant.
