In determining how to green up your business, there are many resources out on the web - do a simple web search and you will find more information then you can handle.
Personally, I like Greener World Media and Greenbizintelligence.
For funding - you might try New Resource Bank - but, they might only work with producers.
There are many ways to find funding. The first is searching for and contacting private foundations and associations in the green space. Ask them if they ofter some financing or funding options or if they know of any.
Or, use traditional lending resources then try to off-set some of the cost via the Federal and state tax credits.

Thanks NRiddle for the resources!
svenziale, If you decide not to apply for tax credits, you may be eligible for a renewable energy grant for services placed in 2009 and 2010. If your energy facilities meet the requirements and will be placed in service before 2014, then you may be eligible for a grant that is 30% of your investment in the energy efficient facility. You won't 'get' funding for turning your daycare green; however, there are federal tax rebates that you can benefit from. Some federal energy tax credits allow up to $1,500 back; this is related to insulation, weather proofing, etc. However, you can get 30% back of your entire cost for solar system installation, geo-thermoal power, etc. I've provided some links below to help you learn more about these tax credits.

Remember to 'avoid' any so called goverment grants as this is always a scam, the goverment doesn't grant money for this type of thing. I'd also check with your gas and electric provider to see if they are offering any rebates as well on green improvements.
