Hello, my name is Diane & my husband & I have just opened a new business. We have spent every thing we've had on construction of the building but now after it's all said & done our township supervisor has slapped us with an order to vacate claiming that the building is not up to code for a commercial building. What I don't understand is that there is no zoning in my township, so how can they hold me to commmercial codes when there is no commercial zoning? To tell the truth the building is stronger than my home which sits next to it and was built in 1850. We have complied with all the permit requirments that we were told by the same supervisor we needed. I strongly feel that we're being shafted, are my feelings right? and how can we fight this? They have warned us that we will face a $1000.00 a day fine if we continue to operate. We are facing losing everything if we cannot run this business. Does anyone out there have any advise?
