I am unsure of wether it's actually legal to deny employment to someone based on a relationship they are currently in with a current employee of the company.
Is there any sort of legal backlash that can occur in denying this applicant, since the application for employment doesn't clearly state that if your are in a relationship with a current employee you will be denied employment?
It is not illegal to deny employment for any reason that is not considered discrimination.
However, I would certainly never advise you to give the relationship as the reason for non-employment to either of the parties involved.
