It feels a little awkward for you to ask that question particularly since you
claim to be in the SEO industry. We do SEO as well and potentially certain
web directories could hurt your SEO efforts. Anyways I'm still a little
skeptical about your questions.

In addition, you can add your site to regular web directories. I suggest just
spending a few minutes each day and do this or just outsource to someone who
knows what they are doing.

found where people are looking. If you'd like to quickly see if your business
is listed in the most-popular directories, you can run a Marketing Footprint

as the directory is an on-approval, well moderated and pruned one, that looks
for relevancy, accuracy and a premium on its placement. Yahoo Directory for
instance inspite of the steep price, still makes a good difference to your
SERP. The big challenge is the approval process which is time consuming, but
well worth the trouble in my book.

Once you have a good system/schedule set up for producing content the readers
will come and the word will spread. In the beginning you can target some
niche directories to start the traffic flow, but stay away from any link
systems that promise too much too quick. There is no easy route but time,
quality content and patience wins the race. Good Luck!

target audience. Often these directories are part of blogs or small website.
Contact the website owner and present your website's value proposition.
Generally speaking, for most new websites, Yahoo is not cost effective. While
Yahoo has good authority, your listing would be many levels down in the Yahoo
directory. This means that you would likely receive little backlink juice
from Yahoo.

A web directory can be a good idea if it is highly selective, local and/or
targeted to your niche.
DO NOT use web directories simply to increase your link count. Use them to
help potential customers find you.

high quality ones. When we do SEO, web directories are only a small part of
the overall strategy. We put much more time into creating content that
provides useful information and then posting that around the web. The content
based links seem to be much stronger and you also get residual traffic from
the postings.
