James, did you find a solution to your question yet? I find that personal websites are easy to set up on wordpress or other blogging platforms as most of the time they are self-explanatory and can be done on your own. There are excellent themes for wordpress all over the internet, just google premium wordpress themes. Themeforest.net also has many unique themes for purchase, at a very low cost. As for your website name, this depends on what the website is going to be about. If it's just a personal blog, then your name will work just fine. You may also choose a name that represents the subject matter at hand. If you are going to be selling something or targeting a specific audience, for example: "tractor products" then you may want to consider searching for a domain name that contains the product / subject keyword in the name. There are all sorts of ways to go about it, I suggest doing some research on Search Engine Optimization to get a quick overview of what that's all about. But, nowadays domain extensions (.me) for personal names/bio is very much considered by most of the people who are looking for a personal website. So, your domain can also be jamesandronicos.me. Hi James, Often the best way to start searching for a somain name, is to first determine the purpose of your Website. If your Website is structly for people you already know, then your own name might be a good choice. However, if the purpose of your site is to communicate with people you don't know, then I suggest using just your first name. 3 reasons: 1. your last name might be hard to spell or remember 2. If you combine your first name with another owrd, you could communicate more meaning into your name 3. If one day you want to rank your Website, then having keywords in your name that people are searching on would help.   For example, if you had a travel blog, your name could be "homejames." Or if your blog is political, it might be... "Jamestalkspolitics." I'd recommend getting a .com if one is available.     One final point - your name should take into consideration your audience - what do they want. The blog may be for you, but it is likely also for your audience.   Best of luck

Hi James. Since no one answered you yet, let me offer your some tips and pointers.  My understanding is that you want your personal name to be your URL.  Ok here are some things to think about: 1.    Yes, when you go to Godaddy to register that domain you will see that you can register .com, .org. .info and other TLDs (top level domains).  You definitely want to register the .com; however you may want to register the .org and the .info as well.  Here's why:  This prevents someone else from registering them and piggy backing off your site's traffic; notice if you go to www.google.info it redirects to www.google.com.  Imagine that you had registered www.google.info... in theory you could have people going to your site instead of the official Google 2.    I prefer to register my domains at namecheap.com, because it is cheaper and they offer you the option to hide contact details for free; Godaddy charges like $8 (adds up when you have a lot of domains), so "653 Wynnum Rd Morningside" isn't visible. 3.    Not sure if you are aware of this, but a name registrar and a hosting account may be different.  You can register the domain at Godaddy but host your site somewhere else 4.    You can find people of freelance sites or Craigslist to help you with your web design or perhaps there is someone in this forum who you can contact.
