Hi and congratulations in taking the plunge online. Once you have a website set up it is hard for people to find you on google if you dont have a domain name that points to your niche! (bridal favours) . One way to establish yourself on the internet is to project yourself as a leader in your industry. You can do this in many free ways. Start a wordpress.org blog and attached you domain name to this site. It will be your home for your bridal favours which you can use to tell everyone about. You can start driving traffic to your site through social networking i.e. facebook, twitter etc. Submitting articles to article directories on the internet. You can also do pay per click advertising on Facebook which specifically targets your niche,. ie age group , audience , where they live etc. This does not have to be expensive either. We have also experimented with making sites for about wedding locations. We made a site bout with information about Staten Island wedding venues and Staten island wedding photographers. It has been successful and definitely worth the time and effort. Yes, Social networking sites helps. If you use any social media as part of your marketing tool, the first rule of thumb is STOP selling. Create a relationship-good relationship first. If you lend a helping hand by giving people information that will help them solve their problems, you will eventually earn that much coveted TRUST.

Oh boy...you are in like one of the most competitive markets both online and offline, but especially online.   I would say don't even bother with trying to rank on page 1 of Google for most keywords related to your niche/market because it's way too competitive to rank for the vast majority of the keywords.   As for social media, it can work but it will take quite a bit of time and you have to know what you're doing or else you'll end up with alot of internet buddies but your business will not have benefited.   You could try PPC (pay-per-click) but you really need to learn as much as you can about this before giving it a try or you could end up spending alot of money and seeing no results.   Another way to get your online business going would be to partner up with an established online wedding business that sells something that compliments your wedding favor products, i.e., a site that sells wedding flowers or wedding invitations.   However, be prepared for alot of rejection, because most won't be interested and the few that are...you really have to make it worth it to them to partner up with you.   Wish I could be more helpful but you are really in a highly competitive market.

It can be very tough to get in a position where you can sell a lot of favors online if you do not have a SEO company or aggressive SEO plan if you do it in house. I would network with local bridal places and event planners to get the word out about your company.   It would also be a good idea to give them a special discount so that you can drum up some business quickly. You can also place advertisements on smaller bridal websites that can bring more traffic into your website.   If you do not already have on in the works, you can start a newsletter to capture the email addresses of the people that come to your website so that you can market to them time and time again. You can give a way a free guide such as 'Top 10 Things A Wedding Must Have to Go Off Without a Hitch' to capture more email addresses.

I am a wedding photographer and must add that networking in this industry is very important.  You should find out if there is a wedding or event planner organization in your area that has networking events.  Or go to wedding and event vendor networking events.  They can be a great source of referrals for your business.   Hope this helps

Couple of suggestions:   First, regardless of the business - online or off - you have to focus on your marketing - that means understanding your market, their needs and how they get their information - then you can put the right message in front of them. If no one knows about you and what your business offers - then they will never find you.   Some ways of online marketing - think SEO - search for that terms and find more informaiton than you can handle.  You should have good content on your web site - content that your users or potential customers will want to find, good keywords to target those who search for your offering and relevant back links - one ways links that will drive traffic as well as increase your search ranking.
