I want to open my own salon. After having wasted upwards of $900/month in chair rental to a woman who doesn't care to run a professional establishment or take pride in the business that she has, my previously established clientele has secured me enough to take the next step in pursuing and living my dreams. Now the question is 'where do I even begin?'.
I want to stay in the town where my clients are based. At this point, I'm weighing the options between commercial retail space or searching for residential space that is zoned properly.
I don't know how to look up the information to determine the zoning codes for a small home to base my business out of or where to begin to look for a location with negotiable leasing/CAM costs.
I would love to find a business advisor or mentor to determine the proper way to open an already successful business (my current clientele) in a new location and myself as the owner and to discuss how to maintain success when presented with your dreams

of the difference. I have seen some crazy figure in the past but a insanely
high number of consumer search online for business and products before making
a final decision. I would find some time to research building a website and
seo. If you do not have the time make the investment it will be worth it. If
you don't have the money google is your friend. Do what you can with what you
have. I am sure there is a college with a web design course nearby that has
alot of egar college student willing to do some design work for a few hundred
bucks. I think you get what you pay for but it is a place to start. If this
is way out of the realm for you, create a facebook page for your business and
a google plus, twitter, etc. Work on getting a following to get the word out.
This will help you build your business reach new potential clients. Allowing
you to focus on what you do best. I would not suggest jumping from booth
renting to own your own salon and hiring stylists or having stylists rent
from you. Take baby steps and build your business first.

list it on a website so that more people will know about your hair salons.

. Theres a huge differance, you dont need clients you will need hairdressers
and there clients to cover the cost of running the salon.

visit other hair salon to know what is the basic requirement for hair salon.
On that basis you can start your research.

require and high street positioning, otherwise if you have the gift of the
gab then you can go straight in and do mobile hairdressing and service your
clients in their own homes, next moving up to a shop floor.

is your local small business development center. They are associated with
colleges and universities and may be able to have a student help you with
research and developing your business and marketing plans.
