Hi my name is Hilliard Ladd, I am a 22 year old black male, serving in the US Army. I have been stationed in Vicenza, Italy for the past 3 years and have noticed a need for urban clothing here there are no stores in which you can purchase urban clothing unless you shop online. So I would like to open an urban retail store here in italy. I have $25000 of my own money to invest. I am looking for grants or loans that would be available to fund this type of venture. I would like to know if it is at all possible to receive such funding and if so through who? Any additional information would be great. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Most of the federal grants are given to specific target groups with specific requirements (e.g. minority business owners involved in transportation related contracts emanating from DOT - Grant#20.905 Disadvantaged Business Enterprises Short Term Lending ProgramGrants are also often given to non profit groups or organizations involved in training or other similar activities (grant 59.043 Women's Business Ownership Assistance that are given to those who will create women's business center that will train women entrepreneurs
The US government does not provide grants to start or expand a commercial business.
As for loans, I am unsure if a private lender in the US would offer a loan for starting a business in another country. Has anyone had experience with this?
