NJSBDC Procurement Programs in partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration is conducting seminars on the 8(a) Business Development program, HUBZone empowerment contracting program and the Woman Owned Small Business government contracting program.
The 8(a) Business Development Program is SBA’s effort to promote equal access for socially and economically disadvantaged individuals who have been in business a minimum of two years, so that they may gain access to federal goveernment contracting opportunities. Those who can demonstrate that they are socially and economically disadvantaged may also be eligible to participate in the program.
The HUBZone Empowerment Contracting Program seeks to encourage economic development in historically underutilized business zones - ”HUBZones” - through the establishment of preferences for award of federal contracts to small businesses located in such areas.
The WOSBs set-aside contracting program was launched in February 2011. The SBA will discuss the WOSB rules and eligibility requirements for participation in this program; how the program works and the certification process.
