2012 Kentucky Small Business Champions Announced

Ms. Deborah Gray, Economic Development Project Manager for LGE-KU Energy, LLC, in Morganfield, KY is the 2012 Kentucky Financial Services Champion of the Year

Ms. Gray joined Louisville Gas & Electric (LG&E) and Kentucky Utilities (KU) in October 1998 as an Economic Development Project Manager.  She works in the western part of the state and is located in the Morganfield office of KU.  Ms. Gray works with communities to create jobs and investment across her service territory, providing energy assistance to customers and communities.  Debbie also provides day-to-day assistance to improve the region and assistance to internal departments during the company search and building process, and she was nominated by Lois Decker with the Murray State University SBDC in Owensboro. 

 

Ms. Cathy Stafford, Owner, Ad-Venture Promotions, Lexington, is the 2012 Kentucky Women in Business Champion of the Year.  

Ms. Stafford started her business in 2003 in the laundry room of her home as a single mother of a young son, growing the business to 16 employees today while continuing to raise her son and fulfill commitments to her church and community. Cathy recently served as President of the Central Kentucky Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) and continues to provide time to many other causes supporting small business, particularly to women business owners. Cathy was nominated by Eileen O’Brien, attorney with Stoll Keenon Ogden Law Firm in Lexington.
