Mississippi Women's Business Centers

SBA’s Women’s Business Centers (WBC) provide individual business counseling assistance, workshops, seminars, training services, and access to SBA’s programs and services to help entrepreneurs operate a new or existing business.

Mississippi has one Women’s Business Center with programs tailored to the needs of its constituency.  A brief description and contact information appears below:

Mississippi Action for Community Education, Inc. (MACE)

Mississippi Action for Community Education Women’s Business Center (MACE WBC), offers the Mid-Delta Women’s Entrepreneurial Training Program to the Delta region.  Given the limited opportunities for traditional employment in this area, the MACE Women's Business Center helps to create an alternative and non-traditional mean for economic support for low-income women.  For more than 30 years, MACE has been in the forefront of economic development initiatives in the Delta by utilizing and building on the human resource potential of Delta residents.

MACE Women's Business Center’s Entrepreneurial Training program is designed to provide training and counseling to emerging women entrepreneurs in rural Mississippi. Their workshops, seminars, training classes, and one-on-one counseling provide a hands-on approach to learning.  Participants gain knowledge on how to market and legally operate their business.  A realistic look at financial management and cash flow projection is encouraged during training as well as knowing what type of support is needed for the particular business.

Training classes are designed based on the level of knowledge of its clients.  Classes range from 13 weeks for emerging entrepreneurs to 3-5 weeks for experienced business owners who need additional assistance with improving their business.  One day seminars are offered on various business topics such as:  Taxes, Legal Issues, Financing Your Business and much more.  Through partnerships with other organization, MACE helps to identify the capital needed to start and/or grow a business.

In addition to their general business training, MACE also offers a specialized training program for individuals who want to enter the Day Care Industry.  A 13-week training class is offered to individuals who plan to start a child care center.  The training class provides the Child Care Center owner with the tools necessary to successfully open and operate a Family Child Care Center.

For additional information about the MACE Women's Business Center, call (662) 335-3523, ext. 309  or visit their office at 119 Theobald Street in Greenville, MS.
