WASHINGTON – Small Business Person of the Year award winners from 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Guam will come to the nation’s capital to mark the annual recognition of National Small Business Week and the announcement of the National Small Business Person of the Year, May 23-25, 2010.

Small business owners and entrepreneurs from across the country will be honored for their accomplishments as the nation’s leading small businesses, and the National Small Business Person of the Year and runners-up will be selected from among the 53 state small business winners. The winners represent a diverse cross-section of American small businesses, and include an anemometry company, a professional caterer, a military glove maker, and an eco-friendly restaurant.

This year’s Small Business Week events will take place at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Washington, D.C. Small business winners will be honored at five major award events that will highlight the achievements of businesses that have helped to drive the nation’s economy. In addition to the State Small Business Persons of the Year, award winners will be recognized in the areas of disaster recovery, government contracting, small business champions, and SBA partner awards for financial assistance and entrepreneurial development. Small Business Week events can be viewed via live webcasting at http://www.NationalSmallBusinessWeek.com/.

Small Business Week events will also feature a series of executive business forums on Exporting, Innovation and Social Media, and a town hall forum on driving the American economy. Small businesses nationwide will also be able to view the forums and town hall via live webcast.
