SBA and the Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council (GMSDC) commit to small business growth

ATLANTA -- The SBA is scheduled to sign a Strategic Alliance Memorandum (SAM) with the Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council (GMSDC) on March 12, 2013.  Cassius Butts, SBA Regional Administrator, Terri Denison, SBA District Director and Stacey Key, President and CEO of GMSDC will be in attendance at this significant signing event.

The mission of the SBA is to aid, counsel, assist and protect the interest of small business by providing financial, contractual and business development assistance and advocating on their behalf within the government.

The purpose of the SAM agreement is to develop and foster mutual understanding and a working relationship between the SBA and GMSDC in order to strengthen and expand small business development. The SAM will remain in effect for two years.  “The centerpiece of this agreement will be the direct linkage of GMSDC’s member Minority Business Enterprises to the array of SBA’s programs and resources.” states Terri Denison, SBA District Director.

Cassius Butts, SBA Regional Administrator, says, “We have solidified a strong working relationship with the GMSDC with the signing of the SAM.  We look forward to empowering small business owners with the tools and resources they need to start, grow, create jobs, and to help strengthen the local economy as well as the nation’s economy.  We look forward to duplicating this effort across the Southeast.”

GMSDC is a non-profit organization established in 1976 with a mission to foster and expand mutually beneficial economic opportunities between certified minority business enterprises, corporations, and government entities within the state of Georgia. “We are excited about this landmark partnership with the SBA,” said Stacey Key.  “It gives us the opportunity to facilitate increased collaboration, capacity building, and capital enrichment for minority businesses throughout Georgia.”
