Penta Ink Poised to Double Number of Employees

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Marie Johns, Deputy Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration, will tour Penta Ink, Inc., a rapidly expanding Hispanic-owned small business in North Philadelphia, Wednesday, August 22 at 11:00 a.m.  Deputy Adm. Johns will highlight how local small businesses like Penta Ink can benefit from SBA and Administration programs to grow and create jobs throughout eastern Pennsylvania. Yocasta Lora from the Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will join Dep. Adm. Johns on the tour.

Two years ago, Penta Ink received an SBA-funded microloan through Philadelphia-based microlender Finanta (Financial and Technical Assistance Agency). That loan allowed Penta Ink to move its large printing presses to a new, larger facility to accommodate its growing business. To date, the move has allowed Penta Ink to increase its employee roster by 50 percent, and the firm is on pace to double its pre-move number of employees in the Fall.  Penta Ink specializes in business printing, including menus and fliers, and employs 12 people.

Thus far, in fiscal year 2012, SBA has approved 899 loans in eastern Pennsylvania, supporting over $330 million to eastern Pennsylvania’s small businesses.
