SBA Honors Four Local Entrepreneurs With Small Business Week Awards in Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse district office of the U.S. Small Business Administration will recognize 10 Small Business and Champion award winners at the 15th annual Small Business Excellence Awards in Syracuse, on Monday, May 6 at 11:30 AM.

Nearly 300 people will attend the awards luncheon emceed by News Channel 9’s news anchor Dan Cummings and held at The Doubletree Hotel. The SBA will celebrate National Small Business Week from June 17-21, 2013.  This year marks the agency’s 60th anniversary and the 50th annual proclamation of Small Business Week.  Small business owners from across the country will be honored for their accomplishments during May and June.

Giovanni Food Company, manufacturer of tomato-based products based in Syracuse, N.Y., is the New York State winner of the 2013 Small Business Person of the Year Award.  Nominated by the Greater Syracuse Business Development Corporation, Giovanni’s was chosen for the award based on its growth in sales and employees, staying power, response to adversity and charitable contributions.

SonicBrite, Inc., a dental product distributor in Liverpool, N.Y., is the SBA Syracuse District winner of the 2013 Small Business Exporter of the Year Award. Nominated by the Mohawk Valley Small Business Development Center, SonicBrite was selected for its growth in sales due to increased exporting activity and creative overseas marketing efforts.
