SBA Regional Administrator Tours Pittston Small Business; SBA Helps Local Firm Acton Technologies, Inc. Grow, Export
Local Company With 75 Employees World-wide Exports To Canada, South Korea, Israel, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Netherlands and Mexico
PHILADELPHIA, PA – U.S. Small Business Administration Mid-Atlantic Regional Administrator Natalia Olson-Urtecho will tour Acton Technology, Inc., a rapidly expanding small business that is exporting to nations across the globe, on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 12:30 p.m.
At Acton Technologies, Olson-Urtecho will highlight how local small businesses can benefit from SBA and Administration programs to grow, create jobs and export internationally. Acton Technologies, Inc. leveraged SBA-backed exporting assistance from the Northeastern Pennsylvania Alliance (NEPA) International Trade Program that helped defray the cost of attending and exhibiting their products at European Trade Shows.
“Today, we live in a truly global economy, and we know that to stay competitive American businesses must embrace that reality and make a place for themselves in the global marketplace.” Olson-Urtecho said. “Breaking into foreign markets can be complex, even for businesses that have long track records of success stateside. That’s why SBA-backed assistance through local SBA resource partners – SCORE, the Womens’ Business Centers and Small Business Development Centers – is so important. Small businesses can turn to them for guidance on anything from starting and growing a business to exporting across the globe, just as Acton Technologies turned to NEPA.”
Established in 1947, Acton which received an SBA-backed loan from PNC Bank in 1987, has grown over the years to 47 employees at its Pittston PA location and 75 total employees around the world and currently exports to locations worldwide, including Canada, South Korea, Israel, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Netherlands and Mexico.
NEPA is a regional multi-county economic development agency providing leadership, planning, expertise and services to regional and local governments, businesses, institutions and individuals through innovative and beneficial collaborations and partnerships to enhance the economic development and quality of life of the area.
“Acton Technologies' motto, ‘Building Technology For Tomorrow,’ reflects our focus on products and services that are used in numerous unique areas of the aerospace, automotive, electronics, medical, pharmaceutical and semiconductor industries,” said Terrence Neville, Acton Technologies president. “We have achieved incredible breakthroughs in several highly specialized fields including accomplishments that have even enabled companies to introduce new products that had been stalled in the development stage for years.”
