SBA SEEKS NOMINATIONS FOR
2013 SMALL BUSINESS WEEK AWARDS
HOUSTON – The U.S. Small Business Administration Houston District Office is now accepting nominations for SBA’s 2013 National Small Business Week awards. Each year during Small Business Week, small businesses are recognized for their contributions to the prosperity of our Nation’s economy. Nominations are due January 3, 2013.
“For the past 49 years, the President has designated a week as National Small Business Week and we will be saluting the achievements of the nation’s top small businesses in this process. I encourage you to participate by nominating an outstanding small business owner and/or small business champion from your community,” said Manuel Gonzalez, SBA Houston District Director.
The Houston District Office, which serves thirty-two counties, is accepting nominations for the award categories listed below. The 2013 National Small Business Week Nomination Guidelines and the Houston District Nomination Guidelines supplement can be found on the Houston District webpage at http://www.sba.gov/tx/houston. District nomination packages must be submitted to the SBA Houston District Office, Attn: Russell Hughes, 8701 S. Gessner, Suite 1200, Houston, TX 77074 by January 3, 2013.
The categories to be honored at the Houston District are as follows:
SMALL BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR
FINANCIAL SERVICES CHAMPION OF THE YEAR
HOME-BASED CHAMPION OF THE YEAR
MINORITY SMALL BUSINESS CHAMPION OF THE YEAR
SMALL BUSINESS EXPORTER OF THE YEAR
SBA YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR
VETERAN SMALL BUSINESS CHAMPION OF THE YEAR
WOMEN IN BUSINESS CHAMPION OF THE YEAR
JEFFREY BUTLAND FAMILY-OWNED BUSINESS OF THE YEAR
The Houston District winners will be selected by the Houston District Advisory Council and honored at the annual Small Business Awards Luncheon in Spring 2013. The District Small Business Person of the Year winner will advance for further competition at the regional level and the regional winner will advance for competition at the national level.
