MANAHAWKIN, NJ---The Women’s Center for Entrepreneurship Corporation is teaming up with the Southern Ocean Chamber of Commerce and the U.S. Small Business Administration to host Business Boot Camp-Business After Sandy, a free half-day business seminar designed to help existing and start-up businesses access programs and resources to help grow and start a business in the Southern Ocean County region.

The seminar will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 from 7:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn located at 151Route 72 West in Manahawkin and is a result of a $300,000 grant received from the U.S. Small Business Administration to assist the small business community in the region from the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

“We are closing in on the two year anniversary after Hurricane Sandy and while pockets of business communities are coming back, not everyone has recovered from the effects of this devastating storm that has affected so many in this region,” said Penni Nafus, Director of the Women’s Center for Entrepreneurship Corporation.  “The goal for this Boot Camp is to focus on business after Sandy by providing educational tools for established business owners to grow their businesses, the basics for folks who are considering starting businesses in the near future and to support customer service initiatives for established businesses.  We also plan on bringing this model to other regions in the state.”

Participants will have the opportunity to choose among nine topics, but will only be able to attend three seminars throughout the program.  Topics will include Show Me the Money; Overcoming the Psychological Effects of Sandy on My Business; Encore Entrepreneurs – Creating that Home-Based Business You Always Wanted; Marketing Your Way to a Growing Business; Customer Service Workshop for Your Employees; What I Need to do to Start a Small Business; Plan Your Work and Work Your Plan; Social Media for my Business; and Preparing Your First Business Plan.  The program will also give participants the opportunity to connect with fellow business owners during networking sessions and enable them to share their experiences and learn from others.

Those interested in attending Business Boot Camp-Business After Sandy may register here online.  There is no fee to attend, but registration is required.  Additional information on the program can be obtained at www.wcecnj.org.
