Sondra McMindes - 2012 Idaho Small Business Person of the Year

Boise, Idaho – Sondra McMindes, owner of Children’s Therapy Place located in Boise, Idaho, has been named the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 2012 Idaho Small Business Person of the Year.  Sondra McMindes was nominated for the award by Richard Vycital, business consultant of the Idaho Small Business Development Center in Boise, Idaho.

Based in Boise, Idaho, with locations throughout the Treasure Valley, Children's Therapy Place, Inc. (CTP) provides speech/language, occupational, physical, and developmental evaluation and therapy services for children of all ages. CTP’s programs are designed to meet the individual and varied needs of every child and family.

“Receiving this award is a great honor,” said McMindes. “This award is really a tremendous complement and tribute to the outstanding work done by our team of professionals at Children’s Therapy Place. It’s always been our goal to provide the highest quality therapy services. But, for me, when I’m at the office and seeing first-hand the hard work, dedication and client care delivered by our employees is nothing short of inspiring.  Children’s lives are changed and improved.  It just doesn’t get better than that.”

“SBA is proud to honor Sondra McMindes as the 2012 Idaho Small Business Person of the Year,” said Acting District Director Rodney Grzadzieleski of the SBA Boise District Office.  “Under Sondra’s leadership, Children’s Therapy Place has experienced tremendous growth over the last few years.  SBA is pleased to have assisted Children’s Therapy Place with training and business mentoring through the Small Business Development Center at Boise State University and SCORE.”

In making the Idaho Small Business Person of the Year nomination, Richard Vycital said, “"Sondra developed Children's Therapy Place to provide exceptional speech therapy services to the youth in our state, and made it accessible to rural markets who really needed help. With her leadership, and the skill and care provided by her exceptional employees, it is no surprise that Children's Therapy Place has become such a highly respected service provider in this region.”

“Small Business Person of the Year winners from 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Guam will converge on Washington, D.C. in May, when one of them will be selected as National Small Business Person of the Year during the U.S. Small Business Administration’s celebration of National Small Business Week, May 20-22,” said Assistant Associate Administrator Calvin Goings. “Sondra McMindes will be among those honored by the SBA at the National Small Business Week ceremonies.  As the winner of the Idaho Small Business Person of the Year Award, McMindes could be named National Small Business Person of the Year during the national event.”
