Tennessee Small Business Winners Announced—Henson Trucking LLC of Bolivar Receives Veteran Small Business Award

Nashville, Tennessee – Tennessee small businesses received the highest recognition by the U.S. Small Business Administration in the Volunteer State as they were proclaimed  SBA Champions, Business Advocates  and Entrepreneurs of the year.  Every year since 1963, the U.S. Small Business Administration takes the opportunity to highlight through National Small Business Week the impact of outstanding entrepreneurs, small business owners, and others from all 50 states and U.S territories.

“These award winners represent the many excellent small businesses and small business lenders that we have statewide”, said Walter Perry, District Director of SBA’s Tennessee District Office.  “All across Tennessee, our hard working award winners are the very best at what they do,” said Perry. “SBA is proud of our partnership and pleased to honor these award winners for their role in helping small businesses start up, grow and succeed in the Volunteer State.”

In Bolivar, Roger Henson and his wife, Shirley, will receive the Veteran Small Business Person of the Year Award on Monday, June 16th at an event hosted by the Hardeman County Chamber of Commerce.  Ron Acree, Executive Director of the Tennessee Small Business Development Center in Jackson, and Barrett Stevens, Mayor of Bolivar, along with County Mayor, Willie Spencer, nominated the Henson’s for this prestigious award. Mayor Stevens noted, “Roger Henson Trucking has continuously supported community endeavors that enhance and help our small community be a better place, in so doing, Mr. Henson has been the epitome of the hard-charging veteran business owner and the community-minded corporate citizen.”  Henson Trucking LLC is one of the largest employers in the county, with over 100 employees, and still growing.
