Concord, NH:  The U.S. Small Business Administration recently announced that they will honor Jonathan Shapleigh, Vice President of Commercial Lending at Bank of New Hampshire with the SBA 2014 New Hampshire Financial Champion Award. Shapleigh will be recognized along with several outstanding entrepreneurs and business advocates at the annual NH SBA Small Business Awards event on May 28.

Shapleigh has been a banking professional since 2005. His primary focus is on commercial lending in the Rochester, Dover and seacoast communities. In addition to his work at Bank of New Hampshire, he serves in many outside organizations that focus on the New Hampshire business community, including the Rochester Economic Development Commission, the Mount Washington Valley Economic Development loan review committee, and as Chair of the annual “Start-Up” business competition held in Rochester.  He is a banking professional who goes out of his way to advocate on behalf of small business owners, and his creative financing strategies for businesses foster a favorable environment for success.

Shapleigh is well versed in multiple lender enhancement programs, including SBA guaranteed loans,  that allow him to be a well-rounded finance professional providing a high level of service to businesses across the state.

Shapleigh says “I’m proud to be working on many levels with dedicated local business professionals who are committed to the future of New Hampshire’s economy.”

Mary Ellen Humphrey of Rochester Economic Development nominated Shapleigh for this award.  She says, “Jonathan has worked hard to secure financing for many local businesses, both existing and startups.  This is crucial to bring jobs to the community and attract and retain young talent.  When something needs to be done, he volunteers and takes on leadership roles. Jonathan is a great asset to our community and deserving of this prestigious recognition.”

“We look forward to honoring Jonathan Shapleigh as the 2014 Financial Champion on May 28,” stated SBA district director Greta Johansson. “Business owners helped by Shapleigh have commended his knowledge, his willingness to work with them on a variety of needs and options, and his belief in and support of their business ventures.”
