Vermont exporter can win $10,000

WASHINGTON – Vermont small business exporters have a chance to win $10,000 by entering the 2013 SBA-Visa Export Video Contest.

The Small Business Administration and Visa are cosponsoring the contest, which runs from Feb. 25 to April 5, to inform small businesses about the advantages of exporting and increase awareness about government assistance available to exporters.

“This is a great opportunity for Vermont small businesses to have some fun highlighting their export business while having a chance to win a cash prize,” said Darcy Carter, Vermont District Office director.

Prizes awarded will be $10,000 for first place, $8,000 for second place, $6,000 for third place, $4,000 for fourth place and $2,000 for fifth place.

Videos will be judged on message, uniqueness, lessons learned, use of government programs and quality. Winners will be announced by May 31.

To participate, a company must be a small business as determined by SBA standards and have used a federal service to support an export transaction. Business size standards are available at http://www.sba.gov/content/summary-size-standards-industry.
