Karen Sakihama serves as the Deputy District Director of the Hawaii District Office which includes the State of Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, and the former Trust Territories.
 
Karen’s career with the federal government began in 1980 when she joined the SBA’s Milwaukee Branch Office as a Business Management Specialist and later appointed a Loan Specialist.  In 1985, she joined the SBA’s San Francisco Regional Office as a Regional Loan Specialist assisting in the administration and management of the economic development and business loan programs in SBA’s Region IX.
 
In 1987, Karen returned to her home state of Hawaii as SBA’s Assistant District Director for Business Development and appointed the Assistant District Director for Finance & Investment in 1988. She has served as the Deputy District Director since November 2003.
