District Director Hawaii District Office U.S. Small Business Administration Andrew K. Poepoe was appointed District Director of the U.S. Small Business Administration's Honolulu office in November, 1991. Poepoe oversees the delivery of agency programs, including financial assistance, management counseling and business development throughout the State of Hawaii, the Territories of Guam and American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of Palau, and the Republic of the Marshall Islands. Poepoe worked as an executive for Dole Packaged Foods Company from 1962 to 1988, when he became the company's Manager of Commercial Operations and Vice President of Dole's Hawaiian Plantations Company. During his 30 years with Dole, he was at the forefront of developing successful strategic business relationships with companies located throughout Asia and the Pacific. In addition, from 1966 through 1982 Poepoe held elected positions in the Hawaii State Legislature and the Honolulu City Council where he chaired the committees on zoning and energy. Poepoe received his BS degree in engineering and business from Yale University and his MBA from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He is a graduate of the Kamehameha Schools. | ||
