Beginning in 1986 as a two-man shop, John Thompson and Paul Thrift purchased distressed buildings and homes in need of renovation.  The business, Thompson Thrift, took on projects less glamorous to other developers, but of tremendous value and benefit to the greater Terre Haute community.  Over its 20 year history, the company has worked to improve derelict properties as well as build new structures.  Projects of Thompson Thrift include building a new Social Security office where an old bus station once stood. They redeveloped a run-down strip mall into a thriving shopping center.  They renovated of an old automotive building for use as their headquarters with additional lease space.  Thompson and Thrift are also very  active in their community.

From a fledging, two-man business, Thompson Thrift has become a full service design-build construction firm with over 120 employees.  Headquartered in Terre Haute, the company has offices in Carmel, Indiana and Detroit, Michigan.  The company has with projects located throughout the Midwest.
