U.S. Small Business Administration


Jaye Weisman was appointed director of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s New York District Office in March, 2008.  In this capacity, she oversees the delivery of SBA programs in New York City, Long Island, and the downstate counties of Duchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester.  The New York District is among the top markets in the country for SBA’s training, counseling, procurement and loan guarantee programs.  The District serves more than 1.25 million small businesses, with programs delivered throughout the district by SBA staff headquartered in New York City and in the branch office on Long Island, NY, and by major resource partners (e.g., SCORE: Counselors to America’s Small Business, Small Business Development Centers, Women’s Business Centers).

 

Dr. Weisman is a New York state native and seasoned leader.  She started her federal career in 2003, as the Northeast Regional Director for the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs, with responsibility for New York, New Jersey, New England and the U.S. territories.  Before this she held positions in healthcare administration and service delivery, including affiliations with New York City Health & Hospitals Corporation and Liberty Healthcare System in New Jersey.  In addition, she developed a consulting practice to assist programs, organizations, and individuals in business and executive development, workforce planning, and organizational change.  She has maintained a psychology private practice in New York City since 1994. 

 

Dr. Weisman holds a Bachelors' Degree from the University of Chicago, an MBA from the Zicklin School of Business City University of New York, a Master of Professional Studies in Labor Relations from Cornell University in New York, and a Ph.D. from St. Johns University in New York.
