COUNSELING AND TRAINING RESOURCES

 

 The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) helps new entrepreneurs realize their dream of business ownership and assists existing businesses in their efforts to remain competitive. 

Through a network of six offices across the state and 1100 SBDC offices around the country, the SBDCs provide professional, confidential and no-cost business consulting services, including one-on-one counseling and training, to individuals starting a business or looking for ways to improve an existing business.

The SCORE Association is a nonprofit association dedicated to entrepreneur education and the formation, growth and success of small business nationwide. SCORE is a resource partner with the Small Business Administration (SBA). SCORE Association volunteers serve as "Counselors to America's Small Business." Working and retired executives and business owners donate their time and expertise as volunteer business counselors and provide confidential counseling and mentoring free of charge.

Equip, South Dakota's Women's Business Center, provides assessment, career counseling, consultation, business planning, referrals resources and training for current and prospective entrepreneurs in South Dakota. Primary focus is providing services to rural women, however, Equip's services are available to anyone, regardless of gender. The Equip Business Support Center also offers workshops in entrepreneurship, finance, marketing and customer service, to name a few.
