TN District Director

Longtime Tennessee resident W. Clinton Smith was named Director of the U.S. Small Business Administration District Office in Tennessee District Office in October 2004. The SBA Tennessee District Office is headquartered in Nashville.

A native of North Carolina, Mr. Smith is an honors graduate of Western Carolina University with a degree in accounting. He has been with SBA since 1975 and has served in a number management positions in the Tennessee District Office including Chief of Finance, Assistant District Director for Finance and Investment, and Deputy District Director. He has held special appointments in Wisconsin, Georgia, and Kentucky where he served as Acting District Director.

Mr. Smith is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is active in his church and has served as Sunday school teacher, deacon and stewardship chairman. He has coached youth soccer and basketball teams and held leadership positions in the Boy Scouts. His hobbies include woodworking, golf, gardening and bee keeping.

Mr. Smith and his wife Cathy have been married for 29 years and have two children: Katy, a school teacher and Matt, a student at Tennessee Tech University.
