Robert A. Westbrooks

Robert A. (Bob) Westbrooks was appointed Deputy Inspector General in July 2013. He previously served as Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Investigations at the U.S. Department of Transportation. In that position, Mr. Westbrooks oversaw the Special Investigations directorate, the Investigative Operations directorate, and the OIG Hotline. At the DOT, Mr. Westbrooks received a Secretary’s Award for Partnering for Excellence for his efforts in collaborating with agency partners.

Mr. Westbrooks began his federal law enforcement career in 1994 as a Postal Inspector with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, where he successfully conducted mail fraud investigations in the Washington, DC area. He has experience in leading people, leading change, and obtaining results in a variety of progressively responsible positions at the U.S. Postal Service, the National Archives and Records Administration, and the U.S. Department of Transportation. Mr. Westbrooks also served for two years on detail to U.S. Senate subcommittees.

Mr. Westbrooks is a licensed attorney, Certified Public Accountant, and Certified Fraud Examiner.
