Advisory Memorandum 5-19: Consolidation of SBA’s Systems Subject to the Federal Information Security Management Act
Date Issued: Friday, May 20, 2005
Report Number: 5-19

On May 20, 2005, the OIG issued Advisory Memorandum 5-19, Consolidation of SBA’s Systems Subject to the Federal Information Security Management Act.  The overall objective of this review was to determine if the SBA could reduce its number of general support systems and major applications to its internally recommended five systems and still meet FISMA security requirements.  The OIG concluded that the SBA had 16 major applications and 4 general support systems, which met criteria established by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for FISMA reporting as major systems.  The SBA reviewed a draft of this report and generally concurred with the conclusions, and suggested changing two subsystems from the draft report.  Additionally, the SBA suggested name changes to a number of its systems.
