Blue Streak Couriers
Harold Boyett, owner of Blue Streak Couriers, began his career in the delivery business at UPS when he was 18 years old. It was while he was working at UPS in 1997, that he first learned of Blue Streak Couriers, a same-day courier service that was an agent for UPS Sonic Air in Jacksonville, Florida.
After working with the Small Business Development Center at the University of North Florida, Boyett took ownership of Blue Streak in 2005. With the assistance of the Small Business Development Center and two different SBA loan programs, Boyett has grown his courier service into a multi-state business employing more than 140 people.
Blue Streak uses technology to maximize the productivity of dispatchers and drivers. Once a package is picked up, customers can follow the delivery real-time on the website via GPS technology. Dispatchers also use this technology to schedule deliveries, communicate with customers, and identify the location of all drivers at any given time.
Since Boyett purchased the business in 2005, the commitment to customer service has remained the focus of the company. Blue Streak was able to grow from renting a 1,200 square foot facility in 2005, to owning a 2500 square foot facility with the help of the SBA 504 loan program in 2007.
