Done Right Building Services
Done Right Building Services, Inc. was certified as a participant in the SBA’s 8(a) program in December 1998. The company received a tremendous amount of business development assistance and guidance into how the 8(a) program worked and how to use it to increase business with various federal agencies.
During the company’s 9 years in the program, revenues increased from $800,000 in 2000 to $6.3 million in 2009. A significant amount of this increase can be attributed to contracts awarded due to the company’s 8(a) status.
Done Right employed 5 full-time and 44 part-time employees before receiving SBA assistance. Today, the company employs 154 people.
Since graduating from the program, Done Right has sought ways to increase its visibility with clients, extend its service offerings, and offer support to other small, minority, and women-owned business concerns. Recently, Done Right partnered with an 8(a) company to continue service for an account awarded while the company was in the 8(a) program. The relationship allows Done Right to mentor, offer management support, and ensure a seamless transition of service to the client. CEO Anthony Samuels says, “the SBA allowed me to take on contracts that I might not have had the opportunity to acquire on my own. I got my foot into new fields that in which we are now doing very well. There are no handouts. You have to compete for and earn the contracts and then you have to perform.”
