TSAY Construction & Services, LLC
TSAY Construction & Services, LLC is owned and operated by the Ohkay Owingeh Tribe (formerly known as the Pueblo of San Juan). It was founded in 1995 as a division of TSAY Corporation and was exclusively devoted to serving the construction needs of Ohkay Owingeh. After several years, the company restructured, formed TSAY Construction & Services, and expanded its areas of services and expertise.
In November 2004, the company received certification into the SBA’s 8(a) Business Development Program as a tribal, small, disadvantaged business. TSAY also received its SBA HUBZone certification during the same period. At the time of certification, the company had 20 employees. Today, the company employs 465 people, including both full time employees and people employed by joint ventures that the company has in place.
When TSAY was approved into the 8(a) program in 2004, it was generating revenues of $1.9 million. From 2008 through 2010, the firm’s average annual revenues have been over $25 million. Donn Wiese, President and General Manager of TSAY, noted that due to TSAY’s status as an 8(a) Tribal company and their financial resources, the firm has been afforded unique opportunities from the federal government. As a leader in the local New Mexico business community, TSAY almost exclusively utilizes small businesses from New Mexico to perform various specialized services when required.
