The Whitestone Group, Inc.
Working out of his home, John Clark founded The Whitestone Group, Inc. in April 2000. Whitestone is a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business with 8(a) Certification that specializes in providing asset protection and protective security officer services.
With a combination of successful business experience and a strong background in law enforcement, John said he recognized in 2000, that there was a lack of professional security officers and quality investigators available to commercial and government customers. He was positive that Whitestone’s services would be embraced by customers and appreciated by law enforcement.
In 2004, Whitestone began positioning the company for government contracts and received its U.S. General Services Administration Schedule in early 2005. Making the transition to the government sector, Whitestone received multiple government contracts for armed security services when the Hurricane Katrina disaster hit later that year.
Whitestone received its first SBA Patriot Loan for $330,000 in May 2009. The timing of this loan played a pivotal role in the company’s ability to win and successfully execute a large Dept. of Interior contract. In April 2009, Whitestone was awarded the security contract for the Hoover Dam, an iconic landmark and high profile site for counter terrorism activity. Without the timeliness of the SBA loan, Whitestone would not have had the financial backing to successfully replace the incumbent contractor. In January 2010, the company secured their second SBA-guaranteed loan for $1.9 million.
Since receiving their first loan in 2009, Whitestone has been able to create 236 new jobs across the country. With the help of the Small Business Administration and SBA-guaranteed loans, the company now employs more than 350 people.
