California depends heavily on STEP program assistance for its overseas trade missions for small businesses to participate in over 28 trade export promotion efforts that highlight the following sectors in global high demand: Advanced Technologies, Food & Agricultural Products, California Lifestyle, and Bio Med Manufacturing, and others. Additionally, California STEP program targets assistance to eligible small businesses that are owned and controlled by one or more of the following: socially and economically disadvantaged individuals; women; veterans and/or service-connected disabled veterans; and/or, rural small businesses; that promote new-to market export opportunities to the People’s Republic of China; and that promote regional, industry focused, innovation clusters through development of export opportunities small businesses.
