GoldStar Barbershop

My name is Frank Zaragoza and I am the owner of GoldStar Barbershop here in Visalia, Califnornia. The opening of this business started back in April/May of 2011. It was an idea that my wife and I had been entertaining for some years now. We brought back a service that was missing. There were some very well known barbers, some great barbers. Those individuals left a legacy and the way I feel today from the feedback that I've been getting from them is that we are fulfilling that role that was left by those great barbers. Additionally, we knew that the city of Visalia was lacking in employers and so when we decided to build our business model we elected instead of having booth rental to hire our own employees and create jobs for them and because of that idea we were lucky enough to hire seven new employees. I learned about the SBDC through various publications. I know they offer training here in the city of Visalia. I also have a sister-in-law who participates in a local business and through her recommendation I did a little bit more research. SBDC helped me in finalizing my decision. Their impact was huge. At first, I placed a very simple phone call and I met my business coach. When we sat down, we talked about what my vision was, what my goals were. She basically laid out a path for me. From that, it was just a matter of reaching one little goal to the next to the next and it was through little steps that we managed to build this very nice corporation. If you notice, our emblem has five stars and that is a very high expectation that I placed for myself and that I placed for my employees. I want to be that five star barbershop that everyone wants to go to. I want everyone feel the experience of what it is to be back in the 1940s and get that superior service. I want to thank SBDC for being there for us. I want to thank everyone. Everyone has just been so great. Their strong attitude, their strong vision have carried me through to today.
