YLB Accounting & Consulting Services

Hello. My name is Yolanda Bradford. I am the owner of YLB Accounting and Consulting Services in the heart of Shelbyville, Kentucky. Out of the three programs of the SBA the first one that we used was the 8(a) Business Development Program.

YLB was able to help sustain ten positions and we were able to increase our employment by 10 and cut our cost. The next program that we used was the ARC Stabilization Loan Program. We did lose one of our major contracts due to the market and to help us rebound really quickly we were to pay off some debts. To start to help our cash flow we were able to purchase some equipment that would allow us to start increasing our marketing but keep our costs low. Last year, 2011 we were able to take those savings that we had and purchase the building through the 504 Loan Program that SBA offers.

Now we sit in my office that I now own. I rented it for the first five years but now that we now own to reach out to the community to help others. One of the most rewarding things about starting YLB to helping others achieve their goals. When we see someone have a successful business and be able to maintain, we are a part of that because we helped them build that foundation. We help people with financial education and literacy. When people are able to manage their budget and then purchase their first home and see the excitement on their face, that's some of the most rewarding parts by helping other people. One thing that YLB believes in is giving back and that's why we started the HJW. It's a 501c3 organization and we help people with pre-tax preparation, we help our elderly, we help our low to moderate income, we help our single parents purchase homes and to be able to help their children and be viable in the community that they live in.
