This workshop covers the basics of Sales and Use Tax as it applies to retail business, as well as the appropriate uses of the different exemptions that may be encountered. Other topics discussed included: record keeping for audit compliance and estimated tax payments. This session will also cover Kansas Unemployment Tax Liability; how to apply for a KS unemployment tax number; Kansas Employment Securities Act; and worker classification: independent contractor or employee. This information is presented by a tax specialist with the Kansas Department of Revenue and an auditor from the Kansas Department of Labor.
