DALLAS/FORT WORTH – The U.S. Small Business Administration’s 2016 Emerging Leaders executive-level training is launching in every state in the South Central Region – Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas - to help local entrepreneurs grow and succeed.  Local recruitment is now underway with classes scheduled to begin in April.

“This entrepreneurial education initiative is a priority for our Agency because it trains already successful small businesses in how to become prosperous medium and large-size businesses which are able to propel America’s economy forward,” said SBA South Central Regional Administrator Yolanda Garcia Olivarez. “An added bonus is that class participants gain the opportunity to establish strong networks, share best practices, success stories and be a part of building each other’s dream of entrepreneurship. I encourage you to contact the Arkansas District Office at 501-324-7379, x279 to find out how you can join this year’s class.”

“We are excited to offer this program in Central Arkansas again,” said Arkansas District Director Linda Nelson. “Last year’s class of 14 all graduated with growth plans to guide them through the next three years.  If you want to see your small business grow strategically, and you are willing to commit time and effort to make that happen, this program is for you.”

More than 3,000 promising small business owners across the country in underserved communities have been trained since its inception in 2008, and its impact continues to expand. The seven-month intensive executive entrepreneurship education series includes approximately 100 hours of classroom time per participant and provides the opportunity for small business owners to work with experienced mentors, attend workshops and develop connections with their peers, city leaders and financial communities.

Victoria Washington, Managing Member of Vision Information Technology Consultants, LLC, graduated from Arkansas’ 2015 Emerging Leaders program. “Being part of the 2015 Emerging Leaders program in Arkansas was a great experience for me personally and a tremendous impact on how we do business today,” she said. “Emerging Leaders provided me with tips and tools that are essential for a business to be successful. I foresee positive growth in Vision IT and I am excited about what the future has in store for us.”

Nationwide, nearly 70 percent of training graduates achieved revenue growth and over 80 percent have created new jobs or retained all existing jobs..  Graduates have secured federal, state, local and tribal contract awards of over $700 million.
