Concord, NH. – The U.S. Small Business Administration’s New Hampshire District Office is seeking 17 – 20 small business owners to participate in the Emerging Leaders Initiative beginning in April at UNH Manchester.

The Emerging Leaders Initiative is a free executive-level training program that will provide entrepreneurial executives with the organizational framework, resource network, and tools to build a strategic plan for their business success in the here and now while sowing the seeds for sustainable future growth.  The Initiative is a seven-month program from April to October and while the course is free for businesses accepted into the program, executives are expected to commit to about 100 hours of classroom and out-of-classroom work.

The Emerging Leaders Initiative has been created for established business owners operating for-profit enterprises that have been in business for at least three years with at least one employee other than the owner and annual revenues between $400,000 and $10 million.

There are no restrictions on the types of businesses that can participate. Some examples of participating businesses include manufacturers, retail stores, wholesalers, contractors, professional services and food service.

This is the initiative's inaugural year in New Hampshire and is available to small businesses statewide.  Nationally, the Emerging Leaders Initiative has been a catalyst for expanding opportunities for small businesses since its inception in 2008. Graduates have reported that nearly 70 percent achieved revenue growth and more than 80 percent created new jobs or retained all existing jobs.

Business owners interested in the program need to complete the online application at  by March 1, 2016.
