MINNEAPOLIS – The U.S. Small Business Administration has chosen Stone Arch Commodities, and its subsidiary, Ag Transfer, as the 2019 Minnesota Exporter of the Year. Held annually to highlight the impact of outstanding entrepreneurs, small business owners, and small business supporters across the nation, National Small Business Week is May 5-11 this year.

“Stone Arch Commodities was chosen as this year’s award winner for its ability to exponentially expand its export revenue base while also creating numerous well- paying jobs in Minnesota. We are excited to have such a model company contributing to the economic well-being of the country and we, along with Platinum Bank, are proud to be part of this success story”, said Carlos Sosa, Regional Export Finance Manager for the Minnesota SBA.

“It’s an honor for our entire team to win this award. The SBA and Platinum Bank have been great to work with and instrumental in our growth”, stated Revis Stephenson, President of Stone Arch Commodities.

Stone Arch Commodities is a Minnesota-based export trading company that was formed in 2016 and specializes in trading grain commodities used as livestock feed for customers worldwide. Ag Transfer owns/operates two transload facilities in Minneapolis, Minn., and Chicago, Ill., bringing in bulk commodities by truck and loading them into containers ready for export.

Together the two companies employ more than 40 individuals, with the core trade & logistics team of Revis Stephenson, Joseph Caruso, Hunter Kaestner, and Max Shimada have more than three decades of industry experience. To ensure success they use the SBA’s Export Working Capital Program for pre-export financing and the International Trade Loan Program for Cap X financing. As a result, Stone Arch has been able to steadily increase shipping tonnage of U.S. feed products overseas. In 2018 the companies shipped 260,000 metric tons; the equivalent of 10,000 40-foot shipping containers.

The company was nominated for the award by Platinum Bank.

The SBA Minnesota District Office, along with the SCORE Association and the Minnesota State Small Business Development Center, will honor all the 2019 winners at the Minnesota Small Business Week Awards Luncheon on May 10, 2019, at the Minneapolis Marriott Northwest in Brooklyn Park, Minn.
