National Event to Help Grow LGBT Businesses Coming to Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS – A national initiative is turning into a local event when the LGBT Business Builder comes to Minneapolis on April 13, 2016.  Created by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), this initiative was created to help remove barriers and increase access to strategic growth opportunities for America’s LGBT business owners.

The program will introduce entrepreneurs to NGLCC certification and connections, as well as SBA Programs and Services which help business owners grow their businesses. 

The Minneapolis LGBT Business Builder will be held on April 13, 2016 from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the University of St. Thomas, Opus College of Business, Opus Hall, Room 201-202, 1000 LaSalle Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55403. 

Speakers will include:

  • NGLCC Leadership
  • SBA Leaders from Washington D.C. and Minnesota District Office Experts
  • Industry Experts on NGLCC Certification

The workshop will prepare attendees to:

  • Grow their businesses with the NGLCC LGBT Business Enterprise® (LGBTBE) certification,
  • Take advantage of emerging procurement in the federal and private sectors,
  • Connect with multinational companies, including over 1/3 of the Fortune 500, which are interested in working with LGBTBEs.

  • Anyone committed to the economic advancement of LGBT people

Cost: There is no cost to attend this event but seating is limited and registration is required.

Magazine, the LGBT Business Builder seeks to highlight the benefits of LGBT Business Certification.  Certification will allow LGBT businesses to qualify for government and private sector contracts.  By increasing the number of firms that are certified and raising awareness of SBA Programs and Services, we are partnering to help build business success for the LGBT community.
