PHILADELPHIA– Do you know a small business owner with an amazing success story to tell? If so, submit your nomination today for the 2015 National Small Business Week Awards. Nominations are currently being accepted online at http://awards.sba.gov/, by mail and in-person at SBA’s Philadelphia District Office, Parkview Tower, 1150 1st Ave., Ste. 1001, King of Prussia, PA 19460.

For more than 50 years, SBA has recognized the outstanding achievements of America’s small businesses for their contributions in their local communities and our nation’s economy.

Last year’s Philadelphia District Office Small Business Person Of The Year was nominated by Robin Booth, president of Booth Management Consulting: MFR Consultants, Inc. President and CEO Maria Frizelle Roberts. When Roberts founded MFR Consultants, Inc., which specializes in business advisory and information technology services, providing technical, management and operations support to government, transportation, defense and public safety, health and human services, life sciences, energy and environment, and education industries across the country, she turned to SBA’s programs, products and services to help boost her award-winning company from start-up to success and expansion.

Last year’s Philadelphia District Office Exporter Of The Year, nominated by Cora Landis, Program Director, International Trade Development Program, Lehigh University SBDC, was also the SBA Mid-Atlantic Region Exporter of the Year: EcoTech Marine, International Inc. manufactures and sells reef aquarium propeller pumps, LED lighting and accessories for aquariums at hundreds of aquarium stores throughout the United States and to more than 30 countries around the world. The company has received SBA-guaranteed loans and worked with SBA resource partner Lehigh University SBDC consultants.

In addition to the portal, nominations can also be sent directly to SBA District Offices, which can be located online at district offices. All nominations must be submitted online, postmarked or hand delivered to the SBA no later than 3:00 p.m. ET on January 5, 2015.

National Small Business Week Awards include: Small Business Person of the Year Awards, Small Business Exporter of the Year, Phoenix Award for Small Business Disaster Recovery, Phoenix Award for Outstanding Contributions to Disaster Recovery, Federal Procurement Award- Small Business Prime Contractor of the Year Award, Federal Procurement Award- Small Business Subcontractor of the Year Award, Federal Procurement Award- Dwight D. Eisenhower Award for Excellence, 8(a) Graduate of the Year Award, Small Business Development Center Excellence and Innovation Award, Veterans Business Outreach Center Excellence in Service Award, and Women’s Business Center of Excellence Award.

Local SBA Philadelphia District Office Awards include: Entrepreneurial Success, Family-Owned Business of the Year, Minority-Owned Small Business Person of the Year, Veteran-Owned Small Business Person of the Year, Woman-Owned Small Business Person of the Year and Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

You may submit a hard copy for local awards to the District Office to “U.S. Small Business Administration, Parkview Tower, 1150 First Ave., Ste. 1001, King of Prussia, PA 19406.” Awards must be submitted no later than 3pm ET, January 5, 2015.

Last year’s winners and nominators were recognized last year by Philadelphia’s NBC10 anchor and consumer reporter Tracy Davidson with SBA’s Philadelphia District Director during the annual “SBA Day at the Ballpark” during a luncheon followed by a Phillies game at nearby Citizens Bank Park. The event is open to the media.
