FARGO – According to a recently completed annual report, North Dakota Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) provided free one-on-one consulting to 284 small business owners last year, resulting in over $104 million in capital infusion.

Through its seven regional service centers and network of 17 sub-centers located throughout the state, the North Dakota SBDC reported spending more than 8,500 hours assisting entrepreneurs with loan applications, cash-flow management, business plans, government contracting and other needs. As a result of SBDC services, small businesses have created and retained over 1,500 jobs. Further, 145 new firms were established with assistance from the North Dakota SBDC in 2012.

“Job creation and access to capital remain top priorities for the Small Business Administration,” said SBA North Dakota District Director Jim Stai. “The North Dakota SBDC’s focus on helping small businesses access capital has made a significant impact for entrepreneurs in North Dakota.”

Primary support for the SBDC is provided by the Small Business Administration, with match funding provided by the North Dakota Department of Commerce and local economic development groups, colleges and other partners.
